Actual car shown

The mileage amazed me the most, but other than that it was a flop of a trip.

All the things I expected to happen happened, car had way more body damage then I expected as well as 2 non matching headlights, a badly repainted bumper and it’s on it’s original tires from 2002.

This sounds all fine and dandy if the guy wasn’t asking fucking $3900 with no wiggle room, especially since the car was in subpar condition inside out even with that low of miles.

A tail light out, the aforementioned tires and the fitment of the rear after what I assume was an accident kept me away as well as the rediculous price.

I did like the Galant itself, it was the i4 so there is tons of room to work on the engine and it’s very basic and utilitarian. I might go looking for more galants but definitely not buying this one.

I love the gallant... it’s like the perfect Q car.

Was it an old person’s car? I’m guessing yes and they crashed into a lot of things? Depressing.

Oh ya I forgot to mention the guy selling it was a reseller and he had the title in the Po’s name, that’s one of the major reasons I left

As a former Galant owner, I approve, but not at that price. For reference, I bought my 2000 Galant in 2004 for about $5k with ~75k miles on it.

Nice, I like the simplicity of the engine bay and the simplicity of the car itself, just wished I could find a cheaper example as condition of the body isn’t my problem with this one as much as the dumb price and the original tires and the title was in the Po’s name because this guy is a reseller type asshole

Basically I loved the car and hated everything else from the experience

I’d bet they rolled back the miles too if that’s the case. There’s no way a car with 27k miles has all those issues.

That’s better than the time I ran into a reseller type that also had it in the PO’s name. He also let slip the fact that the PO did meth. I ran ran ran far away.

I always found that generation of Galant - especially the pre-facelift models - to be more handsome than its CamrAltimAccord competition. A friend had a base white one with black interior, 4 cylinders, and a 5-speed. It wasn’t bad to drive, but not great either.

Nice choice with the galant. I have an 02 with almost 352k on it. They are quite the troopers if taken care of correctly.

I would buy a Galant, so long as it had a 6G variant under the hood.

Any non-Honda midsize car with the 4-cylinder option instead of the V6 will suit your needs.

In particular, you should also consider the Saturn L-series and the 2004-2005 Chevy Classic. The Classic is the previous generation Malibu for fleet use and came with the 2.2L Ecotec (which wasn’t available in the Malibu when it was sold retail). Sometimes people will list it as Malibu Classic, although officially that gen Classic didn’t officially have Malibu in its name.

The L-series might work for you, too. Plus, it was available as a wagon. Has the same Ecotec as the Malibu Classic.

And of course, don’t forget the Camry. Legendary Toyota quality, and of course the I4 is easy to work on

Perhaps a Mazda6/Fusion/Milan is worth looking at as well. But beware that the 6 wagon was only sold with the V6 (but if you can smuggle in one from Mexico, maybe you can get a 4-cylinder 6 wagon)

Too bad the Korean offerings at the time weren’t quite midsize just yet.

But good Galants should be easy to find in better condition for less money.

Fuck curbstoners
